Michael McEwan is a seasoned gaming industry executive with over twenty years of experience in casino finance, operations, and marketing.  Michael began his career in the gaming industry in 1998 when he joined the global accounting firm Arthur Andersen, working primarily on financial audits of SEC gaming clients including Mirage Resorts, Harrah’s Entertainment, Mandalay Resort Group, MGM Resorts, Lady Luck Gaming Corporation, and Eldorado Resorts.

Michael’s executive experience began in 2004 with his appointment to the Financial Controller position for the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino.  Michael was promoted in 2005 to the Director of Finance position for the Rio, Bally’s, and Paris properties.  Michael worked extensively on the acquisition related asset-validation activities related to the Bally’s and Paris properties and was the key finance leader in ensuring the conformance of Bally’s and Paris’ financial accounting practices to Harrah’s Entertainment standards.  In 2006, Michael joined the M Resort as Vice President of Finance as the Marnell family company embarked on the construction and operation of the 400 hotel room, 1,800 slot machine casino resort on the south end of the Las Vegas Strip.  In that capacity, Michael spent nearly four years working with the President and General Manager of the property ensuring every aspect of the cage, procurement, warehousing, payroll, A/P, credit and collections, treasury, and general accounting functions performed flawlessly upon opening.  Based on Michael’s previous experience, the GM placed additional responsibilities on him related to the non-finance functions of the operation including food and beverage, hotel operations, casino operations, marketing, and facility management.  This additional experience was key in preparing Michael for his current position as the Facility General Manager of WinStar World Casino and Resort.  Michael joined WinStar World Casino and Resort in February of 2010 and has contributed extensively to the growth in gaming revenues and marketing programs, as well as the full reorganization of the accounting team.  Michael’s combination of passion for top line revenue growth coupled with a CPA’s eye for cost management has made him a great asset to the WinStar team.

Michael and his wife Sandy currently live in Corinth, Texas with their ten-year-old son Mason and two dogs.  Michael is also grandfather to Aurora and Alex by his son, Austin, of Reno, Nevada. Michael and Sandy maintain a very active lifestyle, with a penchant for hiking and exploring National and State Parks.
