From Markers to Market!

A logo design competition in Dr. Brandon’s class resulted in international recognition and a trip to the October 2021 High Point Market for Marissa Stottlemire, a Home Furnishings Merchandising major in CMHT.  Marissa participated in the logo design competition for the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame Foundation as part of their new building and re-branding project.  David Gebhart, CEO of Global Views in Dallas and member of the Merchandising & Digital Retailing Advisory Board at UNT, connected students and this logo competition early in the Fall semester.  Marissa’s design was selected from all of the student entries nationwide and she was invited to attend market and the groundbreaking ceremonies for the new building as well as the Hall of Fame gala.  Dawn Brinson was instrumental in working with Marissa and Springs Creative to produce a commemorative scarf with the new logo.  Marissa commented that her first trip to market was “an overwhelming experience and I got to see so many different and unique styles of furniture and décor and meet many people in the industry.  I gained more insight into the industry, the companies, products, and people.”
