The Convention Sales team markets Fort Worth as a premier convention destination while showcasing convention facilities, hotels, and partners across the city. The Convention Services team is responsible for caring for booked conventions, serving as the liaison between customers and the hospitality community. 

POSITION OVERVIEW: 

The Convention Sales and Services Internship provides the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience highlighting all the areas involved in securing convention business, planning with convention clients, and ensuring the success of convention groups. This position will report to the Visitor Experience Manager. 

DURATION: 

This position is 20 hours a week for 12 weeks, 3-4 days a week in the office, dependent on the department schedule and applicants’ availability.

COURSE CREDIT:Course Credit may be available and must be arranged through your educational institution or applicant must provide a written documentation from your school stating this internship is approved and/or sponsored by school as educationally relevant.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Sales team with CRM data entry and management. 
  • Shadow Sales team on initial site tours of the city with prospective clients. 
  • Assist the Convention Services team on site visits, pre-cons, and other duties as needed. 
  • Represent Visit Fort Worth at visitor kiosk and pop ups events to promote Fort Worth attractions. 
  • Support the marketing team in diverse tasks.  
  • Initiate and complete one signature project as defined by Visit Fort Worth. 
  • Perform other daily tasks as assigned by the team. 
  • Work toward the goals of Visit Fort Worth and the Fort Worth Sports Commission while living out the core values of the organization: respect, trust, hospitality, accountability, collaboration, and innovation.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal) 
  • Organizational skills with the ability to work in a multi-task environment, managing multiple projects through completion. 
  • Ability to work 20 hours per week during regular business hours (9 am-5pm, Monday-Friday), with the addition of some after-hours and weekend times. 
  • Currently enrolled as a sophomore in college or higher, exceptions made on a case-by-case basis.

RESPONSIBILITY OF OTHERS: This position has no direct reports.

The position requires effective communication and people skills to engage the public. The ability to understand and follow oral and written directions, work cooperatively with others, and work independently is also required. The ability to work in an open office environment with the potential for occasional interruptions. The position also requires the ability to meet schedules and timelines, plan, and organize work. The potential for irregular hours (some nights and weekends) and the potential for travel around Fort Worth.
