Our undergraduate research workshop provides students with research skillsets that prepares students to effectively examine problems in the apparel industry and consumer markets. Students can expect hands-on exercises in groups, guided by faculty members to facilitate learning and deepen insights. This workshop is only provided once during the Spring Semester.
REsearch Workshop: REcycle, REuse, &REpurpose for Sustainable Food and Fashion Industries
Our second research workshop was held on Feb 28, 2025. Three undergraduate research fellows presented their sustainability research, which inspired the participants to develop their own sustainable research agendas. Participants engaged in hands-on and sensory activities focused on plant-based milks and leathers, further generating research ideas for circular economy innovation in food and fashion industries.
Disruptive Research: Toward Circular Market Innovation
The workshop participants learned the importance of sustainability research and practices and how their research outcomes could be transformed into insightful implications to develop circular market innovations. Students were inspired and exchanged research ideas with peers and faculty members, extending their research rigor to work on UNT undergraduate research fellowships. The research workshop raised their awareness on the issues and problems of the food and fiber industry facing and encouraged them to be problem solvers through the research.
