Visit to the UNT Textile Collection to explore Vogue Ads from the Second World War to Now

Students enrolled in MDSE 4850 (Brand Development) enjoyed a lab at the Texas Fashion Collection to explore fashion advertisements in Vogue from the 1940’s to the present. The point of the lab was for students to learn about the resilience of classic styles and explore the creative aspects of branding from a very different consumer era. Vogue ads feature both fashion trends of the current season and upcoming trends, which allowed students to observe which trends were able to linger and the trends which were transitory and obsolete relatively quickly. The advertisements presented students with a real case study of how fashion has changed over time and how brands have changed their marketing and branding over the years. They also observed how advertisements support the branding over time.

The Brand Development students were hosted by Annette Becker, the Director of the Texas Fashion Collection and Assistant Professor of Merchandising, Dr. Iva Jestratijevic.
