Bi-annual Fashion Show Brings Students Together from across Campus in the Name of All Things Spring

Merchandising Inc. was founded in 1988 as an organization that promotes networking and professional development for merchandising, digital retailing, and consumer experience management students through industry connections, volunteering, and fundraising opportunities. Merchandising senior and current Fashion Show Producer, Lauren Bryan says that Merch Inc. has helped her to discover new career paths and become more open minded to areas she was not thinking of before.

Each semester, the organization produces a fashion show as an opportunity for members to be creative and work with other each other. Faculty Advisor Marissa Zorola tells us that the show’s producer selects the theme and looks for stylists to create styled looks to fit the theme. This semester’s theme was “All Things Spring.” Lauren says, “So many talented students come together to display their creativity for their friends, family, fashion lovers, and faculty. Everyone who participates in the fashion show grows so much because they push their limits and test their strengths.” The show has helped her practice networking and goal setting skills.

The show on April 8th before a sellout crowd in the University Union was a celebration of spring looks and fun. Funds raised from the show go to not only the next semester’s event, but also the Jamie Regen Merchandising Inc. Scholarship and the Merchandising & Digital Retailing Study Tour Awards helping students participate in the study tours offered each Maymester in Europe, New York, and the Silicon Valley.
