Grapevine CVB Goes Festive with UNT Researchers
July 03, 2012

A UNT Hospitality and Tourism Management research team collaborated with City of Grapevine's Convention and Visitor's Bureau (CVB) to research Grapevine's Main Street Days Festival in May of 2012. Members of the research team included Principal Investigator and Assistant Professor, Dr. Young Hoon Kim; Hospitality and Tourism Management Chair, Dr. Lea Dopson; Professor, Dr. Bharath Josiam; Associate Professor, Dr. Daniel Spears; Assistant Professor, Dr. Zheng (Phil) Xiang; and Research Assistant, Qianling (Peggy) Hao.

The Main Street Days Festival is known for its charm, but the CVB aimed to increase attendance by attracting and catering to a more diverse market. The research conducted by UNT measured festival attendance and attendee behavior patterns and preferences.

Dr. Kim has long supported local events that promote community engagement and develop distinction while providing the area with an economic boost from tourism. Dr. Kim stated, "It is my pleasure to outreach and work with our neighbors. I hope this can be a starting point for our research team to help cities in our local region."
