Large and In Charge - Hospitality and Tourism Management Class of 2012
July 03, 2012

Ninety-four Hospitality and Tourism Management students tossed their caps on May 12th, celebrating the program's largest graduating class to date. This group, combined with the Fall 2011 and Summer 2012 classes will put the annual total of graduates to over 200. Fulfilling degree requirements, UNT undergraduate and graduate students alike enter the workforce as managers and entrepreneurs in respected international industries of hospitality and tourism. UNT partners with industry giants, including leading global hotel, restaurant, and club companies, to provide students with the latest innovations, education, training, and experience in order to prepare students for real world hospitality management.

Among this largest class of graduates stands the first cohort of UNT's MS in International Sustainable Tourism (MIST).  This cohort holds the first of its kind, joint-degree between UNT and CATIE, Costa Rica.  These students have mastered disciplines in sustainable practices and research development through Costa Rica and other South and Central American communities.

Hospitality and Tourism Management Chair, Dr. Lea Dopson, commented on the recent grads, "It is exciting for the faculty to see our outstanding students cross the stage.  Having the largest graduating class ever is a testament to the fine recruitment, retention, and graduation rates we enjoy at UNT.  Although I am proud of all of our graduates, I am especially pleased with the first MIST cohort's success."

Congratulations to the Class of 2012!  Go Mean Green!
