UNT Hospitality Exhibits at National Restaurant Association Show
July 03, 2012

Hospitality students from the University of North Texas exhibited at Chicago's McCormick Place for the 2012 National Restaurant Association (NRA) Show in May this year. As exhibitors for the College of Merchandising, Hospitality and Tourism, students represented the program's degree opportunities to over 1,800 other exhibitors and over 61,000 show attendees.

The Chair of the Hospitality and Tourism Management program, Dr. Lea Dopson, and Career Development Coordinator, Rosa Malave, accompanied the students to the show. People visiting the UNT booth included prospective students, Board of Governors members, industry representatives, hospitality education professionals, and alumni. As can be expected, business cards were exchanged as students boasted professional networking skills. Dr. Dopson stated, "This show always provides a great opportunity for students to see the foodservice industry in all its forms. This experience opens eyes and doors for students, and it is a good way for UNT to reach out to industry."

The NRA show's sold out exhibit space is an unparalleled opportunity for the best and brightest in the restaurant, foodservice and hospitality industries to come together in the discovery of cutting edge technology, product sourcing, professional networking, and entertainment.

The keynote speaker for the show was former President Bill Clinton, who sang praises of the restaurant industry in its continued efforts to improve nutrition and health among Americans and their youth. He addressed the crowd in saying that "creative cooperation" is the only way to see real improvements, not only in the hospitality industry, but other industry issues as well.
