Bharath M. Josiam, Professor of Hospitality and Tourism Management, presented to the Academy for Global Business Advancement (AGBA) at the 9th Annual World Congress Conference in March 2012 held in Ajman, United Arab Emirates (UAE).  AGBA's World Congress was held in conjunction with Ajman University of Science and Technology's (AUST) 2nd Technosphere Conference. Dr. Josiam outlined the importance of faculty development in his presentation titled, "Improving Pedagogical Strategies for Business Courses." Dr. Josiam's lecture illustrated the effectiveness of the use of multimedia and multiple evaluation strategies for awarding grades.

In addition, Dr. Josiam, along with Samia Kargwell, Assistant Professor of Management at AUST, co-chaired a discussion panel titled, "Marketing and Promotion through Social Media," which included five academic papers submitted by fellow scholars from Malaysia, Pakistan, UAE, and the US. The detailed discussions concerned the impact that social media creates in advertising, marketing strategies, consumer acceptance and purchasing decisions.

After his conference in the UAE, Dr. Josiam travelled to India to make additional presentations. He shared his experiences with students and alumni at the prestigious Institute of Hotel Management, Catering & Nutrition in Pusa, New Delhi, India (IHM Pusa). Dr. Josiam graduated from IHM Pusa with 100 classmates in 1978. "Of the 100 in my class, 3 have PhDs, one was appointed ambassador of Nepal to the United Nations, and one was the GM of the Taj Majal Hotel in Bombay. In addition, a number of my classmates have been GMs and Executive Chefs of luxury hotels in Russia, UK, Sweden, Poland, UAE, and India," stated Dr. Josiam.

Dr. Josiam further presented to students and colleagues at New Dehli's renowned Institute for International Management and Technology (IIMT). IIMT is ranked by The Education Times of India as a premiere hotel management institute. Collaborating with Oxford Brookes University, UK, IIMT is recognized for its research in the trends of international travel and tourism.

While abroad, Dr. Josiam continued to expand his studies of the recent developments in travel and tourism in one of the fastest growing hospitality regions of the world. Visits included the breathtaking Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the world's tallest skyscraper and adventure tours into the Sahara Desert.
