Shop.Org E-commerce Summit in Boston Included Digital Retailing Majors from CMHT
March 06, 2012

Becky Pena, Shelby Snow, Nick Wood, Kirsten Key, and Lisa Louangpho added this event.  As fast as the digital retail industry is evolving, attending annual conferences such as the Shop.Org Summit, is a critical part of keeping pace with the industry.  Rapid advancements in interactive technologies position digital retail in a prominent role in the future of consumer commerce. The Digital Retailing majors experienced the excitement of the summit and met industry professionals in the process.  Kirsten Key, who attended, stated that "The industry moves so fast, by the time you learn something new it's already outdated."

What was the most beneficial part of the trip to Boston? Though all of them said it was great to come away with insight of the latest projects, they all felt the chance to network with some of the country's leading professionals was the most beneficial part of their journey. Becky Pena gave insight into a typical day at the event, "we got up, ate breakfast, networked, went to a few meetings, networked, ate lunch, networked, went to a few more meetings, networked, and at the end of the day well, we networked some more."

Rich Last, Digital Retailing Program Coordinator and Lecturer in the Merchandising Department of CMHT, accompanied them as faculty and professional mentor.
