REAL Community Students Bond with Faculty and Advisors!
September 27, 2011

Approximately 42 students at UNT's Kerr Hall are living and learning together in the school's Residents Engaged in Academic Living (REAL) Community. The REAL Community is comprised of students living in Kerr Hall who are majors in the School of Merchandising and Hospitality Management (SMHM). UNT REAL Communities are designed to create a friendly learning atmosphere for students who live in residence halls and help them build relationships with peers that have shared interests.

At the beginning of the fall semester, the SMHM faculty and academic advisors held a social with the REAL Community to get to know newly enrolled freshman.  This social event complete with Chinese food, cake, and ice cream allowed new students to interact with SMHM faculty in a relaxed, fun, non-academic setting. These students shared their aspirations with each other, their teachers, and their advisors.  Freshmen dreams included everything from running their own event companies to owning a chain of hotel resorts.  The sky is the limit!
