MIST Program gains recognition at Fall Convocation

The M.S. in International Sustainable Tourism (MIST) program gained high recognition during this year's Fall Convocation as University of North Texas' President, V. Lane Rawlins, unveiled the Top 10 accomplishments from 2010-11 to the UNT community. The three outstanding aspects of the MIST program that were featured included:

  • Launch of the MIST program in Fall 2010
  • The MIST program being the 1st of its kind in the United States
  • Enrollment has doubled in only one year

Some of the University's Top 10 Accomplishments from 2010-11

  • Largest graduating class with 8,500
  • Success in hiring distinguished faculty,  fund raising, and increased resource awards
  • New and improved facilities: Apogee Stadium and Business Leadership Building
  • Biggest freshman class ever with 4,000
  • Shared decision making through president's councils
  • Visibility and success in arts: The Green Brigade Marching Band named "Best in the Land"
  • Growth and success in teacher education: More than 1,300 teachers certified
  • Innovation and energy in student support services
  • Top Green School: Reduced carbon footprint by 1/2 billion lbs.
  • Strengthening our International Emphasis: MIST program in Costa Rica
