Hospitality Management Student Lauren Dollarhide Featured at UNT Graduation
August 23, 2011

Summer graduation ceremonies proved to be remarkable for one extraordinary University of North Texas student.  Hospitality Management senior, Lauren Dollarhide, was singled-out at commencement as a special graduate who overcame adversity against all odds in order to receive her diploma.

In September of 2010, Lauren had been hospitalized with a rare, life threatening disease which hindered her abilities to graduate, or even attend school. After the diagnosis, students, faculty, and friends of UNT came together to help support Lauren in her time of need. Lauren remarked that she was "absolutely overwhelmed by the amount of support that my family and I have received." Following graduation, the Denton Record-Chronicle published a heartwarming story about Lauren, which was reprinted in the Dallas Morning News.

On Friday, August 12th, Lauren crossed the stage to receive her Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Hospitality Management, proving to the world that through perseverance and determination, anything is achievable.
