Hospitality Students Exhibit at National Restaurant Association Show
July 13, 2011

Hospitality management students were busy this year attending trade shows and exhibiting for the Hospitality Management program of the University of North Texas. Fourteen students represented the program at the National Restaurant Association (NRA) show in Chicago in May.

The Chair of the Hospitality Management program, Dr. Lea Dopson and the Career Development Coordinator, Mrs. Rosa Malave accompanied the students to the show. People visiting the UNT booth included prospective students, Board of Governors members, industry representatives, hospitality education professionals, and alumni. As can be expected, many business cards were exchanged as students exhibited their networking skills. Mrs. Malave stated, "The NRA show is a tremendous opportunity for students and professionals to interact. We as educators value the work done by the National Restaurant Association because they support education and the food service industry with passion."

Pepsico Foodservice sponsored the UNT students at the NRA Show by providing show badges and rooms at the Hyatt Regency Chicago.  The students attended a reception hosted by the Hospitality Industry Recruiting Executives (HIRE), and they also worked with industry executives at the Pepsico booth.

Hospitality senior James Hearne stated, "The chance to mix and mingle with food service professionals in our industry was an experience I wouldn't trade for anything.  Trading business cards and sharing similar interests about food service is something I will cherish throughout my career."
