SMHM students serve UNT community through Green Jackets
June 28, 2011

Every year 16 students are selected to work with the Division of Student Affairs as Green Jackets. The Green Jackets will assist the Vice President of Student Affairs, Dr. Elizabeth With, at the university with campus forums and events. They will also help make the campus more welcoming for students and guests. These outstanding students are strong supporters of the values of UNT and demonstrate service, leadership and scholarship while at the university. In 2010-11, four of the 16 Green Jackets were merchandising students. We maintain the tradition with three Green Jackets in 2011-12!

Merchandising senior Esther Nicks said she's learned a lot about teamwork from her work with her fellow Green Jackets. The senior said each student puts in the effort required to put on events on campus, like graduation, university day and the distinguished lecture series. Esther said they've all become really close and are each involved in multiple clubs at the university. "I love the Green Jackets. They are probably one of the best programs on campus," she said.

The merchandising Green Jackets during these two years are:

Brenda Davila, a junior from Grand Prairie.

Esther Nicks, a senior from Cisco.

Poulette Romero, a sophomore from Houston.

Alexis Linthicum, a junior from Rio Rancho, New Mexico

Rachel Fritz, from Sacramento, California (graduated in Fall 2010).
