UNT merchandising faculty provide leadership for International Textiles and Apparel Association
May 16, 2011

In addition to grading student papers, publishing scholarly articles, and serving on university committees, UNT merchandising faculty members are actively engaged in the professional organizations that support their discipline. Dr. Tammy Kinley, chair and associate professor in merchandising, currently serves as the vice president of planning for the International Textiles and Apparel Association (ITAA), the leading organization for professionals in the global textile and apparel complex. Kinley's portfolio of responsibilities include managing the strategic plan and overseeing international initiatives such as global outreach, international fellowships, and cultural and industry learning tours.

Dr. Dee K. Knight, associate dean and associate professor, was recently elected as the ITAA vice president of operations for a 3-year term that will extend from January 2012 through 2014. "The professional activities of our faculty are important as we increase the visibility and reputation of our program and institution," says Judith Forney, dean and professor. "We are fortunate to have strong UNT voices with national prominence shaping the future of our profession," says Forney.
