Merchandising Inc. steps out of the jungle for annual fashion show
May 03, 2011

Welcome to the jungle----the UNT jungle that is--- as Merchandising Inc. presented their annual spring fashion show, UNTamed featuring African-inspired fashions. Drawing from the wild side, student stylists and models, showcased wearable designs from zebra prints to tailored khakis. For Marissa Zorola, merchandising lecturer and faculty sponsor, the collaborative effort between local retailers and student volunteers created an unforgettable show. "The talent and energy of our students is amazing," says Zorola. "Each year, the fashion shows become increasingly sophisticated. I'm beyond impressed with the drive the members have to make this a success," she adds.

Much of their success can be credited to fashion show producers, Kristen Martin and Kimberly Staples. The two merchandising seniors were responsible for recruiting volunteers, creating promotional blogs, coaching models, and contacting local retailers, among the myriad of other tasks required to produce a successful event. "There were many sleepless nights leading up to this evening," says Martin. "But the end product was worth the sacrifice," she says.

Over 200 guests attended the UNTamed show, held in the Silver Eagle Suite. A portion of the proceeds was donated to Attitudes and Attire, a non-profit agency that provides assistance and professional dress to women who are in financial need and entering the workforce.
