UNT hospitality management senior hones leadership skills at Marriott summit
January 21, 2011

Megan Hubl, a UNT hospitality management senior, recently participated in the 2011 Marriott Student Leadership Summit.  The conference, held in St. Petersburg, Florida at the Renaissance Vinoy Resort and Golf Club, hosted over 90 students from 38 colleges and universities across the nation. Students competed in small groups to hone their leadership skills and gain a broader understanding of career opportunities with Marriott.

Hubl is currently completing an internship as the UNT Hospitality Management Career Expo Event Coordinator working with industry recruiters.  "Although I was quite familiar with career opportunities at Marriot, this event showed me areas in which I need to improve that were not always revealed in a classroom setting," says Hubl.

Another positive outcome of the summit is the one-on-one ongoing mentoring provided by Marriot executives. Each participant is assigned a mentor that will guide students as they launch their careers in the hospitality field.  "Marriot has opened many doors for students, like me, by paying special attention to early career development." says Hubl.  Thanks Marriot for making a difference in the lives of UNT students.
