Ben E. Keith executive chef connects with UNT students
November 15, 2010

The Club at Gateway Center welcomed Chef Patrick D. Mitchell, and two assisting chefs, Chef Bucher and Chef Rothe, from the Ben E. Keith Company on November 3, 2010 for Guest Chef Day.  Chef Mitchell is currently the executive chef/culinary advisor for Ben E. Keith Foods based in Ft. Worth, TX. He is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and has more than 30 years' experience in the industry.

Resident chef Watson Baldwin, along with the guest chefs, created a delectable menu of butternut squash soup, salmon en papillote, and almond pound cake. Madison Ford and George Wasai, senior hospitality management students enrolled in the Restaurant Operations II class, were impressed with the talent and helpfulness of the guest chefs.  "What an amazing learning opportunity to work alongside these talented professionals," says Wasai. For over 20 years, UNT's hospitality management program has benefited from the expertise of executive chefs.  According to Chef Mitchell, participating in Guest Chef Day is an important way to "give back and help others achieve culinary success."

Charlie Foster, General Manager of the Club at Gateway Center, aims to create exciting dining experiences that exceed customer expectations.  "Our goal at the Club is to always satisfy our customers by providing excellent service and quality food," says Foster. "Thanks to Chef Mitchell, his team, and our talented students, we delivered on all counts," adds Foster.
