Dedman chair in club management receives Earth Week Faculty of the Year award
April 24, 2010

Jerry Dickenson received the Earth Week 2010 Mean Green Faculty of the Year award.  As the Dedman Chair in Club  Management, Dickenson has led green efforts in the School of Merchandising and Hospitality Management since his faculty appointment in 1996.  Some of Dickenson's most notable contributions have focused on developing online courses and using learning management software to offer paperless courses throughout the hospitality management division.

Prior to his UNT faculty position, Dickenson spent 32 years with ClubCorp in Dallas, Texas where he was responsible for operations of the world's largest operator of private country clubs. In 1987 ClubCorp divided into two operating companies and he became the Founding Chairman and CEO of Club Resorts, known for the famous Pinehurst golf course.

Dickenson's enthusiasm and commitment to campus-wide sustainability programs stems from his broad industry experiences.  "At Clubcorp, reducing our impact on the environment was important in every business decision and club opening," says Dickenson.  "This business strategy is even more important today for current students to understand and embrace," he adds. As a leader in the We Mean Green campaign, Dickenson is setting an excellent example for UNT students to become responsible citizens in the global economy.
