Honors Day recognizes outstanding students in merchandising and hospitality management

Seven students in the School of Merchandising and Hospitality Management (SMHM) received awards at the 2010 Honors Day convocation on April 9, 2010. The purpose of Honors Day is to recognize students who have excelled in the general and specific pursuit of their educational goals, to honor individuals and groups who have made outstanding contributions to UNT, and to provide an opportunity for the university community to pay tribute to its deserving members.   


The 2010 SMHM award recipients include:


  • Miranda Alvarado, Outstanding Graduate Student in Merchandising
  • Jackie Stevenson, Outstanding Graduate Student in Hospitality Management
  • Nicole Beatty, Outstanding Senior in Merchandising
  • Hannah Snowden, Outstanding Senior in Hospitality Management
  • Gilpatrick Hornsby, Highest Academic Achievement in Hospitality Management
  • Tatsuya Kitami, Highest Academic Achievement in Hospitality Management
  • Tara Walker, Highest Academic Achievement in Merchandising

Since its inception in 1950, UNT Honors Day serves to dramatize the achievements of exemplary individuals in both academic and non-academic endeavors. SMHM faculty members, Drs. Crutsinger, Dopson, Kinley, and Knight, also were recognized for their contributions to student success both inside and outside the classroom.
