SMHM launches living, learning community in Kerr Hall this fall

Beginning fall 2010, the School of Merchandising and Hospitality Management will offer a Living Learning Community to incoming and continuing students. By living on a designated SMHM wing in Kerr Hall, students will have unlimited opportunities to make friends and immerse themselves in all aspects of campus life and in the merchandising and hospitality industries.  In addition to the amenities offered to all dorm residents, the SMHM Living Learning Community will offer students:


  • Periodic scheduled on-site advising
  • Scheduled tutoring
  • Satellite learning center
  • Experienced Resident Assistant with hospitality background
  • Special workshops with industry leaders
  • Frequent lunches with SMHM faculty
  • Field trips to area merchandising and hospitality companies
  • Industry events including fashion shows, trade shows, and professional conferences
  • Pizza parties sponsored and attended by the SMHM Board of Governors
