Merchandising Inc. awarded UNT recognized student organization status

Merchandising Inc., an organization devoted to the professional development of merchandising students, recently received recognized status by the UNT Office of Student Development. Organizations granted "recognized status" hold a special relationship with the university by receiving privileges related to university branding, access to external funding, and representation on university advisory boards. 


Founded in 1988, Merchandising Inc. prides itself on creating leaders and scholars through service, industry exposure, professional development, and leadership opportunities.  Here are just a few of their activities for the2009-2010 academic year:

  • Demonstrated Mean Green Pride at every home football game working merchandise tables and concessions.
  • Participated in volunteer efforts for Attitudes and Attire, a non-profit organization benefitting women in need of financial and public assistance.
  • Generated funds for the Jaime Regen New York Study Tour Award, sponsoring over $3,200.00 to three students.
  • Produced successful fashion show in conjunction with the Edge Department, Dillard's.
  • Hosted industry speakers from Fossil, NorthPark Center Marketing, and Home Decor.
  • Toured the Apparel Group home office in Carrollton, TX.
  • Volunteered at the Wish Gala as dressers and front of house producers.
