Hospitality Chair, Dr. Lea Dopson, Explores Research and Program Partnerships in China
September 14, 2009

Dr. Lea Dopson, Chair of the Hospitality Management, and ten other UNT department chairs and faculty spent three weeks in China this past summer developing research and program partnerships with various Chinese universities.  The group travelled to Beijing, Kunming, Dali, Lijiang, Xi'an, Nanjing, and Shanghai.

In addition to their productive meetings at universities, the group experienced a variety of Chinese tourist activities.  Dr. Dopson stated, "The trip gave me insights into China as a place for collaborative research opportunities in tourism development and hospitality services.  And, I was able to experience the hospitality and tourism industry from the guest perspective first-hand!"  Among many exciting venues, the group visited the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, the Beijing Olympic venues, Szechuan Acrobats theatre, the Ming Tombs, the Temple of Heaven, the Terra Cotta Warriors, and Tiger Leaping Gorge (near the Tibetan Himalaya Mountains).
