Who Will Save the Earth? SMHM Students Support UNT Earth Week
April 24, 2009

The SMHM undergraduate committee hosted the "Who will Save the Earth?" social during University Earth Week on April 21, 2009. This university-wide public awareness campaign is designed to promote sustainability efforts and generate a sense of responsibility and excitement about reducing, reusing and recycling across campus.

On the lawn outside of Chilton Hall, students, faculty, and staff relaxed and enjoyed organic green tea and sugar cookies. Jodi Duryea, Lecturer in Hospitality Management, made and decorated the cookies with various UNT-Go Green designs. Beyond  lively conversation and refreshing snacks, students tested various brands of environmentally friendly nail polish. Prizes also were given to guests who submitted descriptions of their earth-friendly behaviors on recycled slips of paper.

This event is just one of the many ways that SMHM creates a welcoming environment for merchandising and hospitality management students. Thanks to undergraduate committee members, Dr. Dee Knight, Dr. Tammy Kinley, Sua Jeon, and Jodi Duryea, for making a difference.
