Merchandising Lecturer Offers Interactive Course at Grandparents UniversityR
February 19, 2009

The University of North Texas will introduce Grandparents UniversityR during the summer of 2009. The unique learning opportunity, scheduled for June 25-26 in 2009, will give multi-generational families the opportunity to experience college life together during the summer.

Children aged 7-12, along with their grandparents, are invited to take part in the two-day event where they will select a "major" to study. Participants will have a one of a kind chance to actually live on-campus and explore UNT.  Students will engage child-friendly, hands-on learning that results in a Grandparents UniversityR "degree."

Marissa S. Zorola, Lecturer in School of Merchandising and Hospitality Management, will offer Apparel Merchandising:  Textiles in the Fashion Industry. This interactive course will teach students how new apparel products are designed, manufactured, distributed, and promoted. There will be an emphasis on textiles, where fashion begins, which will allow kids and grandparents to discover the fun of textiles as they dye their very own cotton t-shirt or silk scarf.  If you would like more information, please contact the Professional Development Institute at 940. 565.3356.
