Dean Forney Presents New Global Consumer Paradigm at International Textiles and Apparel Association Annual Meeting

Dean and Professor Judith C. Forney received the distinguished Pearson Prentice Hall Lecture Award at the 2008 International Textiles and Apparel Association (ITAA) meeting in Schaumburg, Illinois in November. The award recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the field of textiles and apparel with a $1,500 award and the opportunity to present at the annual ITAA meeting. Forney's comments reflected her 15 years as a university administrator, 25 years of research, and a lifelong interest in watching global consumer trends.  Her lecture titled, The Global Consumer Experience Paradigm: A Pedagogical Frontier for Fashion, revealed how the consumer experience has become an amalgamation of communication, entertainment, technology, hospitality, and fashion experiences. "We are in a future that we did not even imagine 25 years ago," said Forney. "There has never been a better opportunity than now to demonstrate the application of fashion across business sectors and its importance in the global consumer experience."  

Forney, co-author of Experiential Retailing:  Concepts and Strategies that Sell, is the 10th recipient of the prestigious Pearson Prentice Hall award.
