SMHM Research Task Force Receives Funding for Innovative e-POCE Proposal
November 14, 2008

The School of Merchandising and Hospitality Management recently formed a Research Task Force to create synergy and strengthen the research enterprise across the merchandising and hospitality divisions.  Led by Dr. Dee Knight, the Research Task Force received a $22,000 infrastructure grant for their e-POCE (Electronic Point of Consumer Experience) proposal from the University of North Texas Office of Research and Economic Development.

Through a mobile survey, automated touch screen device, researchers will collect information about individuals’ emotional responses during the consumer experience.  The system will provide researchers the opportunity to collaborate/partner with communities at the local and regional level in North Texas.  These partnerships can facilitate not only faculty research, but provide a research vehicle that facilitates constructive and timely research for those communities seeking answers to significant issues facing them.

Task force members include Drs. Bharath Josiam, Haejung Kim, Jiyoung Kim, Dee Knight, Sanjukta Pookulangara and Dan Spears.
