Dr. Bharath M. Josiam Creates Global Research Synergy in Australia and Asia
August 26, 2008

This summer was indeed a hectic one for Dr. Bharath M. Josiam, Associate Professor in the Hospitality Management Division. In just one short month, he made 15 flights presenting papers at conferences in Perth, Australia and in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  His research at the APac-CHRIE Conference in Australia was part of a multi-continent research project on Attitudes to Work of Hospitality Management Students.   With co-researchers, students in the United States, England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and South Korea were surveyed. The paper was subsequently selected for publication and received noteworthy distinction as Best Conference Paper. Dr. Josiam also presented the work of Ms. Tai-Yi Huang at the Graduate Student Research Conference in Malaysia. As a part of her thesis, Ms.Huang researched the attitudes and perceptions of Chinese tourists on cruise vacations in North America. Beyond professional conferences, Dr. Josiam took the opportunity to visit hospitality management programs in Byron Bay, Melbourne, and Sydney with additional sight-seeing opportunities throughout Australia and Malaysia.
