Chicago Welcomes Hospitality Management Students to the 2014 National Restaurant Association Annual Show

Dr. Lea Dopson, Chair of the UNT Hospitality Management program; Dr. Joe O’Donnell, Lecturer and General Manager at the Club at Gateway Center; and Dr. Elliot Dubin, Lecturer, accompanied seven UNT hospitality management students to the National Restaurant Association (NRA) annual show in Chicago May 7-20, 2014.

UNT Hospitality students worked with Pepsico Foodservice, providing to their culinary staff who demonstrated the use of Pepsico products through different culinary techniques and recipes. While at the NRA show, students were also busy manning the UNT Hospitality Management booth, participating in educational sessions, and meeting several celebrities from the famous Food Network.  According to Dr. O’Donnell, "This is a great opportunity for students to network with industry professionals while strengthening the UNT name with hospitality industries representatives." 

Pepsico Foodservice sponsored the UNT students at the NRA Show by providing show badges and rooms at the Hyatt Regency Chicago.  The students attended a reception hosted by the Hospitality Industry Recruiting Executives.  Senior Hospitality Management student Sandra Graver summed up the event, “Networking with industry professional brings to life the career opportunities that are abundant in the ever changing world of hospitality.”

The 2014 National Restaurant Association Show is the most comprehensive trade show for the restaurant, foodservice and hospitality industry in the U.S. and abroad.  The 95th annual NRA Show offered cutting-edge products, services, and key learnings from over 2,000 suppliers to tens of thousands of industry professionals that visited Chicago from all 50 states and 100+countries.
