Congratulations Hospitality and Tourism Class of 2013
Jan 27,2014

Fifty-Three Hospitality and Tourism Management students tossed their caps on December 12th.  This group, combined with the spring 2013 and summer 2013 classes put the annual total of graduates over 200.  Having fulfilled degree requirements, UNT hospitality and tourism management undergraduate and graduate students alike enter the workforce as managers and entrepreneurs.  UNT partners with industry giants, including leading global hotel, restaurant, and club companies, to provide students with the latest innovations, education, training, and experience to prepare them for global hospitality management.

The Hospitality and Tourism Management program continues to raise the bar for incoming freshman and transfer students in 2014, which reflects industry demands for qualified professionals.  Changes in the Hospitality and Tourism Program include raising the transfer grade point average as well as requiring hospitality work experience before declaring a major in hospitality management.  In addition, freshmen students are now required to be advised both fall and spring semesters their first year.  Hospitality and Tourism Management Chair, Dr. Lea Dopson, commented on the recent changes, “These new changes will help attract well-prepared students into the program.  The requirement of hospitality work experience before declaring the major will help students commit to the industry early on in their academic careers.”

Director of Undergraduate Advising Kelly Ayers stated, “The advising office is enjoying establishing a relationship early with students who have declared Hospitality Management as their major. We can help them with resources and guide them through a successful college experience.”

We wish the past, current, and future graduates of the Hospitality and Tourism Management program continued success.
