UNT Hospitality and Tourism and Management Students attend the International Hotel, Motel and Restaurant Show in New York City
Dec 17,2013

UNT Hospitality and Tourism Management students, accompanied by Professor Bharath Josiam, attended The International Hotel, Motel and Restaurant Show (IHM&RS) in New York City November 8-12, 2013 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

Dr. Josiam stated, “The trip to New York City is a great learning experience for the students.  They get to see the latest/greatest products and ideas in many sectors of the hospitality industry and attend seminars at the IHM&RS; tour an iconic New York city hotel – The Marriott Marquis; visit an upscale, exclusive country club in Long Island – Old Westbury; and interact with industry professionals and students from other hospitality programs.  The trip is a wonderful learning experience for the students, and the icing on the cake is that they see the sights of New York City!”

During the show, UNT Eta Sigma Delta (ESD) Honor Society President Hayley Meyer attended the ESD breakfast hosted by the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education.  Meyer commented, “This experience was incredible.  I had the opportunity to speak with industry professionals and student representatives of other ESD chapters.  We discussed how students can gain a competitive advantage in this increasingly globalized industry.”

Each year the International Hotel, Motel & Restaurant Show® (IHMRS) delivers 18,000 key buyers from around the world— powerful industry players sourcing the latest hospitality products and services. It’s here each November that top-level owners, operators and purchasing companies converge, with two goals in mind: to enrich the guest experience and enhance the bottom line. http://www.ihmrs.com
