Hotel Association of Tarrant County Partners with UNT Hospitality and Tourism Management Program with $25,000 Scholarship Endowment
Nov 4, 2013

The University of North Texas Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) Program is excited to announce a new hospitality industry partner, The Hotel Association of Tarrant County (HATC).  HATC Executive Director, Julie Faver-Dylla, stated, “HATC is pleased to announce its support of our future hospitality leaders with a $25,000 scholarship endowment as well as the launch of the first Hotel Association of Tarrant County Collegiate Chapter.  With the help of hospitality programs like the one at the University of North Texas, students aspiring to pursue careers in the hospitality industry will now have one additional resource.”

Rosa Malave, HTM Career Development Coordinator, was recently voted onto the HATC Board of Directors.  Dr. Lea Dopson, Chair of the Hospitality and Tourism Management program stated, "This is a very important position, as the HATC has recently given our program an endowed scholarship, supported the creation of our student HATC chapter, and will be able to open many doors in the hospitality industry for our students.  Rosa will definitely represent HTM and hospitality education in a significant way.”

The Hotel Association of Tarrant County hosts one of the most anticipated events of the year – the 2013 HATC Casino Night Shake & Stir on Saturday, November 9th at the Gaylord Texan.  Now in its 19th year, the casino night event has raised thousands of dollars while bringing industry friends together for networking and fun.  HATC is dedicated to the enhancement of the hospitality industry and every dollar raised at this event goes to scholarship programs at the University of North Texas and Tarrant County College that support future hospitality leaders.

The Hotel Association of Tarrant County has been a dignitary of the hospitality industry for more than 25 years.  The purpose of HATC is to advocate for members through idea exchange, community involvement, government interaction and resource development, and give members the platform to get their voices heard, no matter how big or how small.
