Sports Retailing: Merchandising Students Aren’t Sitting on the Bench

Students completed internships with metroplex sports merchandisers by working in corporate merchandising offices and in the retail venues.  The interns gained experience in a variety of areas of the companies.  Students attended vendor meetings, processed purchase orders, entered data and analyzed game day sales, assisted with game day operations, created and entered SKUs for new products, conducted inventory checks, and created reports indicating costs/losses on promotions.  In the stores, they were involved in merchandise sales, visual merchandising, and markdowns.   The gamut of learning experiences continued as some had the opportunity to learn about design and production processes, while others attended home games to ensure that merchandise was fully stocked and also assisted in game-day sales.Students who have interned with sports merchandisers recently include:
