Once Upon A Homecoming 2012
Dec 13, 2012

The University of North Texas’ (UNT) “Once Upon A Homecoming 2012” kicked off with a bang Saturday morning, November 3rd as  faculty from Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) along with many other UNT colleges and organizations hosted tailgating tents for the big event. Throughout the morning and into the afternoon, thousands of students and alumni paraded through the tents on their way to Apogee stadium to watch the Mean Green battle Arkansas State. Students that stopped by the CMHT tent found hot, delicious hot dogs and other tailgating goodies. The faculty also featured a homecoming “Dance-Off,” where professors, alumni, and students  moved and grooved to the beat.

This annual CMHT faculty-hosted event has become quite the dancing sensation. HTM Assistant Professor, Dr. Young Hoon Kim, awarded participants with an assortment of festive titles.  Awards included, “Best in Show,” “Best Effort,” and “Awkward!” Faculty member and “Dance Off” contestant, Rosa Malave, said, “This was such a wonderful experience to get out there in front of the students and show our Mean Green school spirit. Opportunities like these really bring our hospitality family together and we always have a blast!”

“Once Upon A Homecoming 2012” encompassed a week-long schedule of events that included the Spirit March, the Bonfire, the Homecoming Parade, and the Mean Green Village where tailgating took place. Hospitality and Tourism Management students participated in activities to show their Mean Green pride and cheer on the football team at the game. Danielle Burnett, Hospitality Management Senior commented, “This is my last year to be a part of such an awesome school spirit event. We really appreciate the professors joining us to celebrate our homecoming! Go Mean Green!”
