Retailers Clean the Closets and Send Students to New York
Oct 1, 2012

Merchants from our Board of Governors have donated products for a campus-wide sample sale that involves literally hundreds of merchandising, home furnishings, and digital retailing students.  Students receive and organize boxes of merchandise, unpack and inventory items, and price and plan displays as well as plan promotional activities to publicize the event.  The day of the event, students, faculty, staff and board members will transport, set merchandise, and execute the sale.

Members of the Merchandising Board of Governors facilitate the contribution of products from their respective companies for this sample sale.  The proceeds fund travel grants for students to attend professional conferences such as the National Retail Federation Big Show, the Summit, and the ART Annual Meeting.

Students will begin the day, October 11, with a program involving industry leaders at our Executive-in-Residence lecture and panel.  Part of the presentation will address specific questions submitted by students in the merchandising courses during the first week of the semester.

After the lecture and panel series, the doors will open for the Sample Sale.  The goal for this year is $10,000.
